My name is Kenya Nicole Murray and I am a second year Public Relations major. When I graduate with my undergrad degree, I want to work on obtaining my master degree in Public Relations. When I accomplish both undergrad and graduate school I am hoping to become a successful publicist.
I was born on Tuesday May 23rd, 2000 in Detroit, Michigan, to Kenneth and Yolanda. I was raised in a baptist church and my relationship with God is still very important to me. At a young age I found myself having many passions. I did ballet from the age of five until I was twelve. I learned how to play piano around the age of three, but unfortunately have no played in about five years. From the time I could read and write I have loved writing and story telling. That passion led to me attending a Communication and Media arts high school in Detroit. I learned a lot about the journalistic lifestyle, and fell in love.
When I came to Bowling Green State University in the fall of 2018 I was undecided on what exactly I wanted to major in. I loved the news, and I was a decent writer. I knew something under journalism would fit, but I wasn’t sure exactly what. I declared Public Relations as my major in spring semester 2019.
Now as a sophomore I am involved with Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Student Support Services (TRIO), BGSU Social Media team, the Black Student Union (BSU). I was the vice president in my residence hall, hall council committee, and now I am an Residential Adviser in a on-campus Resident Hall.
With the help of my leadership experience, my organizational involvement, and what I am learning from BGSU journalism department, I believe my dream of being a successful publicist will be accomplished.
