History of the MAC Women’s Soccer Tournament

The Mid-American Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament was created in 1997, this means the history of the tournament spans more than two decades. Although there are only 12 teams in the MAC and there have thus far been 23 tournaments, not every school has claimed a tournament title.

The three schools without a tournament championship are Akron, Ball State, and Ohio. Of these three both Akron and Ball State have played in two championship games in which they lost. Akron is still yet to make a tournament championship appearance.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Toledo Rockets have won all five of their appearances in the big game making them a perfect 100%. They currently hold the lead for team wins in the MAC Championship at their fire win mark.

The Bowling Green Falcons have the most MAC Championship appearance with eight. The Falcons are set to make their 9th MAC title appearance on Saturday April 17th, 2021. This would have been the 2020 MAC Tournament but COVID delays pushed the soccer season from Fall 2020 to Spring 2021. The other team appearing in the April 17th matchup is the Ball State Cardinals, this will be a rematch between the two teams from the 2018 Championship game that saw a nail-biter finish as the Falcons won that contest via Penalty Kicks.

Below is a breakdown of each Mid-American Conference Women’s soccer program, as well as when and how many tournament championships each program has won.

What else is important about the MAC Championship this year? This year marks the 4th straight appearance by Bowling Green, this marks the longest streak of appearances by any program in the history of the tournament. Bowling Green is also attempting to win it’s third straight tournament which has never been done in school history. Falcons Head Coach Jimmy Walker emphasized this in an interview.

“We want to do something that no other team in BGSU history has done, win a 3rd straight Tournament Title and go on to win an NCAA Tournament game,” he said.

BGSU Women’s Soccer looks to 3-peat this Spring

After winning two MAC tournament championships, the expectations for BGSU women’s soccer are sky high headed into the Spring 2021 season. 15 months after winning their 2019 MAC Championship the Falcons are ready to try and defend their title once again.

Many things have change for the Falcons this season including the coaching staff. The Falcons welcome in head coach Jimmy Walker alongside Dani Johnson, Scott Rissler, and Erik Van Der Meulen. As far as on-field talent, the Falcons return almost all of their starting 11, including senior captain, Nikki Cox.

Lakehouse Renovations

Over the course of the past two years my girlfriends dad has been renovating their family lake house in Roscommon, MI.

He started this series of renovation as he counted down the days until retirement, which just took place on January 22, 2021. Until this past summer the renovation projects were relatively small with a couple of exceptions.

The biggest renovation project pre-retirement was building a two new decks and a concrete patio extending from house deck to lake front deck.

Now upon official retirement other things like a bunk house and a new kitchen are in store for the modernization of the lake house which will now become a permanent address.
