Hello and Welcome to my site! My name is Lauren Salkiewicz and I currently am a Senior at Bowling Green State University. Ever since I was little I had a dream about being on TV. I loved watching the news and always thought it was the coolest thing how people could know so much about so much, have a different story idea everyday and get to be on TV. So now here I am, at 22 years old about to finish college and step into the news world.
But don’t let me get ahead of myself, let me tell you a bit about me when I was younger. Growing up I loved to play sports, in fact two sports that do not normally go together. I was a year round softball player from the time that I was able to play T-ball. Softball was my life until I started cheering when I got into middle school. This was when my time was divided between softball, cheerleading and schooling. I loved school and prided myself in my grades everyday. I graduated from high school in 2016 and was apart of the National honor society for my grades! Even now in college grades are something I still hold strong and look to graduate in the Spring time with honors.
My college career has taught me so much and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to go to such an amazing college! This site is one of the things that I worked on. This site displays my skills that I learned as I am continuing my growth in becoming the best journalist I can be. Here you will see posts that I have one in some of my past classes that were just basics and some classes that helped me enhance my multimedia skills. For one, what your looking at is an example of multimedia skills. This site is one platform of media that everyone one will see because it is on the internet and can be seen on your phone, tablet and computer.
Some of my projects that I have done and you can see on here are slider, a timeline and a Thinglink. Each of these had their own challenges and taught me different things. The slider was interesting to see the change over time happen right in front of my eyes. I used the change in my friends’ dog over a couple months and used various websites to make the picture overlap and be able to be slide from side to side to see change. The timeline that we did was probably one of the harder things, I came up with an idea that had several different events to it and laid it out on a timeline and attached videos and pictures to an excel sheet which was then changed to a timeline. Finally, I made a Thinglink that demonstrated the ability to link various amounts of information on a picture that allowed the viewer to be interactive by clicking on the bullet points to learn more about the person depicted.
I hope you enjoy taking a look at my site and interacting with what I have done!
