About Mary Ross

Mary Ross is currently a second year multiplatform journalism major and Spanish minor at Bowling Green State University. Although she graduated from Avon Lake High School, in the Cleveland area, she recently made the move to Toledo with her family, now calling it home.

She currently serves on the BG News Editorial Staff as Forum Editor and on the Key Magazine Editorial Staff as Managing Editor. In addition to these current positions in journalism, she previously was a Public Relations Intern for Bowling Green State University’s School of Media and Communication and served as a copy editor, reporter and columnist for the BG News.

Other job credits include Desk Clerk of Founders Hall for BGSU’s Office of Residence Life, rotational staff at White Birch Lodge, lifeguard and lifeguard supervisor at the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center and hostess at Coleone’s Pizza.

Club involvement at BGSU include membership to College Democrats, the Honors Learning Community and the Honors College.

Job recognition includes BGSU Office of Residence Life Staff Member of the month in September 2019, nomination for BGSU Office of Residence Life Staff Member of the month in April 2019 and Employee of the Week from White Birch Lodge on August 11, 2018.

Future plans include graduating from Bowling Green State University and applying to various graduate programs across the country to continue on to receive her master’s and doctorate degree. Her ultimate goal is to write novels that emulate the style of Patrick Kingsley in his novel The New Odyssey, where he follows the refugee crisis in Europe and reports in long form journalism style, adding personal touches here and there. However, she is also excited to enter the world of journalistic reporting and be in a newsroom every day, possibly having reporting beats in immigration and religion or environment and environmental policy.
