While under fire, John Filo, who was a student at Kent State, took the photo that defined the Kent State shootings in 1970. The photo showed 14-year-old Mary Ann Vecchio kneeling over the body of 20-year-old Jeffrey Miller, who had been shot and killed by the Ohio National Guard.
